CAPSIZED began with a sunset paddle on the Chesapeake Bay that became a struggle to survive a sudden storm. The forthcoming memoir tells that story through the perspectives of Jacob Vargis and Marianne Savarese.
This companion site will provide a home for material that enriches the story but does not belong in the main narrative: the natural history of the Chesapeake, local places and traditions, photographs, video, and carefully sourced field observations.
We also plan to document two educational projects: an osprey nesting observatory at the end of a pier and an oyster restoration initiative beneath it. Both remain in planning. As they develop, we will distinguish intentions, milestones, and observed outcomes.
Our related Chesapeake enthusiasts website, BayWatch900.com, offers another way to explore the Bay. We hope these resources encourage observation, care, and responsible stewardship.
